ARTful Afternoons are back!

Looking for some "kid-free" time to run errands, answer e-mails or just have some YOU time?
Sign your child up for a ARTful Afternoon at the home studio located in Oak Hill, VA.

DATE: Wednesdays (February 1, 8, 22, 29 AND March 7, 14, 21, 28 2012)
TIME: 2:30-4:00 p.m.

MORE: Children (ages 3-5) participate in art activities (crafts, exploration of art and its history through games, story and creative play) in a stimulating, supportive and age-appropriate environment. Children are introduced to artists, various art media, and explore art techniques in process-driven work.

Artful Afternoons run most Wednesday afternoons from 2:30-4:00  p.m. Class fee is $25 and includes all art supplies and a healthy snack.
You can register for as few or as many classes as you wish.  Pre-registration is required. 

Class size is small therefore, space is limited, register today by e-mail.

This class is recommended for home schooled children OR as supplemental program for preschoolers. This is an independent art class.  Child should be able to easily separate from their parent/caregiver.

ART EXPLORERS (ages 3-5) classes at Reston Community Center

(Lake Anne Location)

Developed for preschool and kindergarten children, this process-oriented art class includes a brief history of an artist, movement or artistic medium that is explored through story time, creative play or other visual aids.   Each week Art Explorers create their own masterpieces, inspired by the artists they learn about, using quality art supplies.  Key art elements and principles such as texture, color, balance, pattern and movement are explored though a variety of art media including painting, sculpture, collage, and more!

This is an independent art class.  Child should be able to easily separate from their parent/caregiver.

Winter Session: January 10-February 28

Spring Session: March 20-May 15 (no class April 3)

Creative Kids! Weekend Workshops

(for 6-9 year olds)

Each workshop will introduce an artist...kids will learn about his/her life, work and influences.  Then, each child will create a custom piece of art inspired by the artist.

Workshops are held in the  home studio in Oak Hill, VA. 

They are 1.5 hours in length (10:00-11:30 am and 12:30-2 pm).

Workshop fee is $28 and includes all supplies.  Sibling fee is $23. Kids return home with a custom art piece, an @ home folio to further explore the workshops topic, and a new love of art and its history!

Saturday, March 17th  Romero Britto

Imaginations will soar as we explore this Brazilian, Neo-Pop artist, painter and sculptor.  Artists will be inspired to create their own piece by his modern, bright and colorful work!

Saturday, April 14th  Jasper Johns

Jasper Johns came onto the art scene in the 1950’s.

His paintings of everyday objects (flags, targets) show us things that we have seen hundreds of times and often just ignore. We will find new mean in the objects he shows us.

Artists will create their own take on a Johns’ classic.

Two sessions on each Saturday will be offered. 10-11:30 pm and 12:30-2 pm.  Please specify which session you would prefer when registering.
